Council Member Paul Vincent AvilaCurrent Term: December 2012 - December 2016

Council Member Paul Vincent Avila was elected to the Ontario City Council in 2012.

A native of Southern California, Paul grew up in the “Bunker Hill” area of Los Angeles and Oxnard, California, where his family currently resides. Paul Vincent Avila is a Vietnam Combat Veteran (1968-1970) 4/47th Air-Mobile Riverine Task Force, 9th Infantry Division United States Army. He attended California State University San Bernardino where he attained a BA in English/Creative Writing, and MFA Candidate, Masters of Boardmanship and Masters in Governance and CSUSB Alumni. He also attended California Southern Law School where he majored in Juris Prudence. Paul retired as a State Counselor with the Employment Development Department after 23 years of service. He also served six years with the California Department of Correction Community Parole Division and holds former businessman experience.

Paul is a 33 year resident of Ontario. Paul and his late wife Maryanne have many years of service to the community. He was first elected to serve on the Ontario-Montclair School District Board of Trustees from 1993 to 2001, and was re-elected in 2005 and 2010. Other community service includes Former President of California School Employees Association (CSEA) Eastern District, San Bernardino County's Grand Jurist, and President of Ontario's Hispanic Heritage.
