Ontario City Council Approves Stage 1 Mandatory Water Restrictions

On August 19th, in response to the 3-year statewide drought and the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) mandatory Emergency Conservation Regulations, the City of Ontario declared a water shortage and moved into Stage 1 of the City’s Water Conservation Plan. Below are a few mandatory water restrictions included in Stage 1: 

  • No hose washing of sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking areas or other paved surfaces; 
  • No hose washing of an automobile without a fitted shut-off nozzle; 
  • No public place (ie. restaurant, hotel, café) where food is served, shall serve water unless requested; 
  • No person shall water outdoor landscaping between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm; and 
  • No person shall allow water to be applied to outdoor landscapes in a manner that causes runoff.
